Wedding bells in Abbey Chapel – Mary Goes Global

Last week Mary was invited to join in a very special event – the wedding of Margaret (Marge) Anderson ’85 and her wife Janet.

Marge and a number of other Mount Holyoke alums had a wonderful time celebrating with Mary, and made sure Mary was dressed for the occasion!

Marge says “Janet and I ordered laurel garlands for everyone to wear, and the alums had their photo taken in them on the grave.  During the grave photo shoot, a mighty wind blew up – maybe it was Mary coming by just to hang out.  We sure felt her spirit there.”

Congratulations Marge and Janet!  Thank you for sharing your special day with Mount Holyoke and Mary Lyon!

Touring the President’s House – Mary Goes Global

Throughout FebruMary, Mary was able to visit alumnae all over the country, and the world.  She was also able to have adventures a little closer to home.

Mary was given a wonderful tour of the President’s House by Brenda Adams, House Manager.

Adventures Abroad – Mary Goes Global

Mary has been having some incredible adventures, both in the US and abroad.  Here she visited Lisa Misakian ‘78 in Nairobi, Kenya.

Lisa Misakian ’78 brought Mary with her on a consulting assignment to lead a compensation workshop among Human Resources practitioners working for globally operating NGO’s throughout Africa.

Lisa writes:  “I brought Mary along with me on a consulting assignment to lead a compensation workshop among Human Resources practitioners working for globally operating NGO’s throughout Africa.  The workshop was part of InsideNGO’s Operations Week in Africa.  Almost all my students were women (we did have one young man in class), and I truly felt proud to share this part of Mount Holyoke’s education/missionary history with my students.  We took our class photo on Wednesday, February 26 on the grounds of Safari Park Hotel in Nairobi, Kenya.  Mary is being held by one of my students in the front row, and that’s me on the left, just under the “K” in the “Kumbayah Hall” sign. The photo is currently on InsideNGO’s Facebook page about Operations Week, so many involved in strengthening the operations of globally operating NGO’s are seeing our Mary on this historic visit to Nairobi.”

Mary Lyon also joined Patrice McCarthy Kirshbaum ’78.  Together they visited the Reichstag in Berlin, Germany.

A Visit to Kendall, NY – Mary Goes Global

Mary has been very busy visiting some amazing alumnae all over the country, and the world!

Mary recently visited Sue Perreault Bonafini ’82 at her home in New York.

Sue says “Although it’s sunny, Mary is wearing a makeshift shawl suitable for winter.  She’s standing at the edge of my property in Kendall, NY, which overlooks Lake Ontario, now partially frozen along the shoreline.  She was pleased to hear that eight alumnae have visited me to date to enjoy views of the lake throughout the seasons.”
